How to make rice with coconut
Coconut rice is a popular dish of Caribbean and Asian cuisine. It can be prepared in two ways: sweet or salty. There is also a dessert with these same ingredients that includes cinnamon powder and is more creamy consistency.
In the case of its sweet or salty versions, the recipe for rice with coconut is similar and only varies the Put sugar (or some sweetener) or not.
As a side dish, rice with coconut is excellent to accompany Asian dishes, for Indian curries, Thai food, or to accompany fish recipes. Preferably dishes that carry sauces so that they mix with the rice. I did it to complement a delicious chicken curry.
If you have made white rice, make rice with coconut is practically the same only that instead of water, you use coconut milk .
Coconut rice recipe
- 1 cup of rice
- 1 cup of coconut milk
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/4 cup extra coconut milk for the end
- 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
The preparation, as I said before, is almost equal to that of white rice:
In a pot whose size will depend on the amount of rice you go to do add the cup of rice, the cup of coconut milk, half a cup of water, a spoonful of salt and a tablespoon of oil.
If you want to give it a sweet touch, add a spoonful of sugar to the preparation.
You set fire to maximum. Let everything boil and when the water dries, reduce the heat to a minimum and cook for 15 minutes. Important: "when the water dries" does not mean that you are going to wait for it to smell burnt, it is just dry .
Once the time has passed, add ¼ cup of coconut milk, stir and remove from heat. Let rest 5 minutes and serve.
